The Furmint grape variety, well known in it's country of origin Hungary, but a real rarity in Austria where only about 10 hectares of vineyards exist. Michael Wenzel is one of the most famous winemaker focusing on his natural dry white wines of this grape.
This wine is made of grapes coming from 3 different plots with predominant quartz soils with some slate and gneiss, therefore the wine's name: "Aus dem Quarz" meaning "coming from quatrz".
Winemaking notes: soft press, natural fermentation in 1200 l Austrian oak casks (foudres), with malolactic fermentation (FML) and later ageing of 8 months on its lees.
