The Furmint grape variety, well known in it's country of origin Hungary, but a real rarity in Austria where only about 10 hectares of vineyards exist. Michael Wenzel is one of the most famous winemaker focusing on his natural dry white wines of this grape.
This "Vogelsang" is the single vineyard wine with the grapes sourced from the same name plot which name means literally "Bird Song". It is a special vineyard due to it's soil composition of the blue quarz (pictured on the label), which is mixed with slate and gneiss. The vines are 28 years old.
Winemaking notes: whole bunch press, fermentation in old barrels with further ageing of 10 months on the lees. Minimal sulphur added (29 mg/l).
