Venus la Universal is a personal project of Sara Pérez and her husband René Barbier.
This white wine, Venus de Cartoixà, is made with the grape of the same name, which is in fact the local name for the well known Xarello.
Over 60 year old vineyard, small plot of 0.5 ha, located in Falset. The idea of making this wine occured to Sara when she decided to make a world-class, ageing worthy Mediterranean white wine.
Winemaking notes: natural fermentarion in big (600 litre) French oak barrel, during 3-6 months. Afterwards ageing in the barrels for further 10 months and 2 years in the bottle. Released to the market in optimal consuming conditions but with a great potential of further ageing.
Only around 900 bottles were filled of this rahter austere vintage, and the wine resembles a great Burgundy wine according to Luis Gutiérrez (Wine Spectator).
