Llanos Negros presents this high altitude red wine, the grapes are sourced from El Rayo vineyard, planted at 1450 meters above sea level on volcanic soils nearby La Traviesa (close to Puntagorda), in La Palma island.
The vines are over 80 years old, and the Listan Prieto variety should not be confused with Listan Negro. This grape is also known as Moscatel Negro or Black Muscat, and while Franciscan friars took this grape across the Atlantic to plant in their missions across the Americas, it acquired several new names, such as "Mission grape" in the USA, "Uva Pais" in Chile, "Uva Criolla" in Argentina, among others.
This Mission's Grapes 2017 vintage is a fine red wine, rather light bodied and really fragrant.
