We could say that this Bobal (local red grape variety from the area of Utiel and Requena) is of a classic red wine style, yet it's winemaking process is not so. This Bobal Crianza spent 14 months in used French oak barrels, but besides, a part of this wine was aged in Tinajas - this is how the traditional clay vessels also known as amphorae are called in Spain.
Vegalfaro's Rodolfo Valiente was one of the first winemakers in the area to work with aging wines in clay vessels (what became rather popular nowadays), and here is the result of his work.
This wine has lots of spicy and herbal notes but the fruity side is there, too, especially remarkable black forest berries. An ideal wine to pair with barbecued meats or rich stews!
