An orange wine from Priorat region
Els Vil·lusionistes is a relatively new winery in the area, taking care of several small plots of old vineyards in the Catalan hills and recovering ancestral winemaking traditions. Their winemaking vessels are stainless steel tanks but every year the traditional amphoras are gaining more space and production capacity.
Under the same philosophy they make an orange wine or "vi brisat" as locals call it, for this 2020 vintage using mainly grenache blanc (70%) and some macabeo (30%).
Winemaking notes: fermentation takes place in the clay pots (on skins), after the process is over the wine is pressed and racked into steel tanks for aging on their lees for several months until bottling in June 2021 (only small amount of sulphur is added for preserving the wine).
